Cold, wet, heat
Most rations become hard or messy in cold, wet or warm conditions. QRR stays chewable below freezing, opens with wet gloves, and requires no preparation.
Fuel and stove cycles
Every cooking stop costs gas and time. Replacing one or two meals a day with QRR removes a stop and the need for fuel. Over a week this means hours saved, less to carry, fewer parts to clean, and less hassle when tired.
